Secure handoff guide
Temporary secure link
Create an expiring encrypted link for a secret that needs to reach one person without becoming permanent shared history.
Expires by design
Give a link a limited lifetime so access naturally closes after the handoff window.
Ciphertext storage
The server handles encrypted bytes and access rules while the browser handles decryption.
Cleaner sharing workflow
Use password gates, QR codes, and reply support to match the way the recipient should receive the secret.
The practical detail
Create temporary access without building a vault
Sometimes a secret needs a controlled delivery path, not a full password manager workflow. A temporary secure link creates an encrypted bridge between sender and recipient for the few minutes or hours when the secret is needed.
Reduce exposure from forwarded links
Expiry settings and view limits help reduce the chance that a forwarded or forgotten link remains useful later. The link should still be treated as sensitive, because the complete URL carries the browser-side decryption material.
Match the control to the risk
For routine details, a short expiry may be enough. For high-risk credentials, combine a short expiry, one-read access, a password gate, and post-handoff rotation.
